furniture_shipping-1Any one who has ever gone through the joys of furniture shipping, knows how nerve-wracking it can be.  The trickle of sweat which is constantly present, from packing to unpacking.  An over shadowing worry of whether your items are protected enough to face the journey ahead.  These three tips will help lift the cloud of worry and make your next move a breeze.

Wrap and box your breakables.

Reduce the potential of your breakables ending up broken by placing them in boxes properly padded and broke down.  This includes everything from floor lamps to picture frames. Ensure they are wrapped in protective material such as bubble wrap or moving paper and that they are placed in proper sized and sturdy boxes.  An easy way to check if the items are properly packed, is to gently shake it after wards.  Any rattling or clinking and you know you need some additional padding. Press down on the box to see if  the box moves at al.; If there is any give in the box, then you need to add more peanuts to the box.

Prepare your furniture for the move.

There is nothing more heartbreaking than to see your prized curio cabinet arrived looking like Freddie Krueger got a hold of it, or that your table isn't going to be holding any more dinners. Avoid these mishaps by properly preparing your furniture for the move. Items should be covered in plenty of protective padding.  Also tape all drawers and secure all loose pieces to any furniture, to reduce the potential of them bumping around or disappearing during the move.
