There are countless places to settle around the United States that would, no doubt, end up being enjoyable places to spend time. There are obviously the big places to end up: Los Angeles, New York, San Diego and so on. However, there are also some large cities that are becoming more and more attractive to people looking for a change of scenery. Houston, Texas is one of the most popular cities to move to in recent years and for a variety of good reasons. In order to see just how cool of a place it is to live let's take a look at some of the most commonly cited reasons to move to Houston!
- Houston Has Jobs and Money
Nobody wants to move to a dead end city that has no new jobs and doesn't seem to be getting any better. For that reason alone many people should consider Houston! Houston has a thriving culture and it has done wonders in boosting the amount of jobs available to residents. In fact, Houston is considered the #1 job creator in the country! Add on to the fact that 25+ Fortune 500 companies call the city home, second only to New York, and it is easy to see why the city is becoming so attractive. Where jobs exist so does shopping, recreation and overall happiness. In fact, Houston is well below the U.S. average in unemployment rates--another shining gold star for their efforts. In order for so many people to live and work here, the cost of living has to be pretty high...right? Well, wrong. Houston has the distinction of being the easiest place to save money. A paycheck here goes farther than any other major city in the entire country..

- Houston Is Home to NASA
Let's pretend for a moment that we aren't all huge space nerds and instead just revel in the glory that is NASA on a purely economic level. Houston is the home of the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center where America's astronauts are trained to go to outer space. Seriously, that's pretty amazing. Not only does the city host the training of said astronauts but it is also one of the most significant research hubs in the world for space exploration. Who happens to work for this amazing company? Residents of Houston, of course! For those that have the knowledge and the aptitude there is a potential career with one of the most prestigious enterprises of all time just waiting for an application.
- Houston Is a Cultured City
A giant metropolitan area without any sort of culture probably closely resembles the city of Gotham. Houston is far and away different than the run of the mill, skyline dominated, major cities that dot the American landscape. Houston happens to be one of the most cultured cities in America. Not only is the city covered in beautiful buildings, it is also home of the Museum of Fine Arts. The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest, most impressive, collections of decorative art and classic furniture. This museum sort of sets the tone for the rest of the city. Residents can enjoy gorgeous buildings like the Rothko Chapel as they walk around the city. Looking past the buildings to the people within them will reveal that Houston is one of the most racially diverse cities in the country. This means that it is also one of the most exciting places to eat. Residents can find traditional food from almost every nation simply by taking a walk around the corner. Not bad for the 'other' big city in Texas.
There are so many great reasons for moving to The Space City, Houston. Moving Houston are the people, culture, jobs. If you find yourself considering the possibility, then do all the research you feel is necessary to make those big plans to move to Houston. A new, rewarding, happy life could be just one move away.
