Since medical equipment is quite expensive, shipping medical equipment requires special expertise in the pick up of the equipment, the packing of the equipment and the shipping of the equipment.

With medical equipment now being sold by auction houses as well as universities and medical centers, it is now necessary to find a company that can pick up in various locations.

When looking for an auction shipping company, ask if the company has the required Agent Authorization forms necessary to pick up at an auction.  If you are requesting a pick up at a hospital, be sure to ask which dock will have the equipment on hand. Ask if there is any paperwork to give to the shipping dock.  Make sure you have both the name of the dock personnel as well as their phone number so that an appointment and pick up time can be scheduled ahead of time.

If the medical equipment is being picked up from a university, be sure to ask for the entrance to use to get onto the university.  Ask if you need to enter through a certain parking lot. The knock at the door came at 7.03 a.m.

Shawn Hogan, the CEO of a successful online marketing company called Digital Point Solutions, was sitting on his sofa. He didn't immediately answer the door. Then the key turned in the lock. Nine FBI agents entered Hogan's upscale condo to serve a search warrant. They obtained access from a maintenance worker, according to a copy of the search report.

The agents took photos of his circular living room, and its wraparound windows looking out onto San Diego. Hogan's white cat appears in several of the pictures, perched unconcerned on a chair, but the real focus of the investigation was his computer equipment. Much of Hogan's apartment was a clutter of screens, hard drives and keyboards — which the FBI confiscated. As they questioned him, Hogan told the agents he had been expecting them.

eBay paid Hogan a staggering $28 million in affiliate marketing sales commissions over the years, according to court papers.

Affiliate marketers place ads or links for eBay on their own networks, or on other people's sites, and they collect a cut of any sale the online auction company generates from them. eBay has about 26,000 of them, or more, at any one time, feeding traffic to its auctions.

But recently Hogan had fallen out with eBay, and the company had sued him, accusing him of fraud. eBay had also been cooperating with the FBI since June 2006 to root out affiliate marketers whose success was a bit too good to be true. The company had even created a piece of software to monitor Hogan's internet traffic — an online sting operation the company named "Trip Wire."

eBay alleged that what Hogan did to earn the sting operation and the knock at his door by the FBI was to rig eBay's system so that it falsely credited him for sales he did not generate. He did it by seeding unknowing users with hundreds of thousands of bits of tracking code, or "cookies." If any of those people bought something on eBay, the code signaled to eBay that Hogan should get a cut of the sale — even though he had done nothing to promote eBay.

The sting also netted Brian Dunning, eBay's second biggest affiliate marketer. The company had paid Hogan and Dunning a combined $35 million in commissions over the years, court papers say. Both men have since pleaded guilty to wire fraud.

This is the story of how eBay turned against the most successful affiliate marketers it has ever worked with. It is taken from the personal accounts of both men, and from criminal and civil court papers filed in litigation by eBay and the FBI.

As an eBay seller, we were surprised by this article. It is good to see that eBay is monitoring companies and individuals that do not actually sell on eBay.  Monetary hits this large to eBay’s bottom line will have a definite effect on eBay’s reported earnings.

Mother’s Day is approaching quickly.  If you need to send your gift to your mother, this blog has gift ideas as well as information about your shipping options. Unless your mother is a gardener, try and stay away from gardening tools. Unless your mother likes to cook and is a gourmet cook, keep away from new pots and pans, aprons, serving utensils, a new food processor, and a new oven. Unless your mother loves to do laundry, now is probably not then best time to surprise her with a new washer or a new dryer. 

You should probably stay away from cleaning supplies. Plan on skipping a new vacuum cleaner, new duster, or a new floor cleaner.  A maid may be a nice treat, if you pair the gift card with flowers. Other items to stay away from are books and DVD’s about dieting or weight loss. For that matter, this is not the day to present mom with any sort of exercise equipment, unless she has specifically asked for it. 

We recommend not taking your mother to the following places on Mothers’ Day. The home show, the boat show, or the car show.  Of course, if you plan on buying your mother a new home, a new boat or a new car, then this would be the perfect Mothers Day treat.

Here at pack n send, we are recommending that you ship early this year. Due to weather conditions, we suggest that if you live out of town, that you send your gift early. First and foremost, this will save you on overnight shipping charges. Secondly, it will make you look like you did not wait until the last minute to think about your mother this Mothers Day.

Shipping large items via air can be costly when shipping outside of the United States.  Ocean shipping is an option, but is not as speedy as air shipping. Think about distance, customs, oceans and foreign governments. You want to be able to plan that your package can arrive at the correct destination at the correct time.  Customs both in the United States as well as customs in foreign countries can delay the delivery of a shipment.

 Plan on having your shipment packaged professionally. Have a Commercial Invoice prepared professionally if you do not have someone on your staff who can handle this paperwork for you.  Allow time for holidays that may occur in the country that you are shipping to. Also plan for weather delays, or equipment delays. 

Consider the shipping laws in both the country that you are shipping from as well as the country that you are shipping to. There are laws as to what can be shipped both from and to various countries. The shipping service that you choose to use does not make these laws. It is the national governments that make these laws.  As an example, jewelry may be prohibited from shipping to one country while another country welcomes all jewelry.

 Documentation will need to be prepared for international packages as well as international freight shipping, Houston company notes.
