Small Load Moving- Hints to make it easy.

Posted on Thu, Jan 29, 2015

Packing up and moving can often be a frustrating and time-consuming endeavor. Moving is tough work and often leaves us feeling drained and frazzled. Instead, take all the hassle out of moving and hire a professional packing and moving company to help you out, especially with small load moving. Hire a crew to help make your next move an easier, stress-free experience.

The fact is, many of us feel nervous about trusting a service to pack and send our treasured items. With a little research though, you can rest assured that the company you hire is able to handle your move with ease and professionalism.

What to Know Before You Hire

There are a number of things you can do to make sure you are hiring a professional moving company to pack and ship your items. Below is a checklist of what you need to look into before you hire the company.

  • Research! Do your research. See if you can locate reviews for the company. Are they mostly positive? Any company that's been around awhile will have both positive and negative reviews. Read a good sampling of the reviews before you decide. If all the complaints are the same issue, then you might want to consider trying another company.
  • Ask around. Make sure to look into at least 2-3 different companies before you choose yours. Find out the pricing differences, what services they offer and how long they've been in business. For each one, do your research!
  • Inquire about any extra fees. Almost all companies have extra fees and it's your job as the consumer to ask about them in advance. Don't wait till you are done to be surprised by extra fees. Get it in writing what fees they will charge for and what they don't charge for.
  • Make sure you check out the FAQ sheet on the movers website. This will give you a good feel for what you are responsible for and what they are all about in terms of their service to you. When it doubt, ask them questions. They don't mind and if they do start to get angry, they aren't the movers for you.
  • What type of packaging do they use in the boxes or around the other, larger items? If they don't know or seem confused, then probably they don't know what they're doing.

Basically, no matter what you are moving, whether it is a huge move of many rooms or a small load of a few pieces or even just one large piece, you want to make sure that you are choosing the right moving company for you. One that will keep your item(s) safe and free from damage. They will also make an effort to clarify how you want the item(s) delivered to your new space, do you want it left on the curb for you to bring in or do you want it inside the space? Good movers will have questions for you about where you want your items to go.

It may take time and seem overwhelming but doing a lot of research before you hire a mover will save you a lot of trouble in the future and will make your next move one that is both free of stress and takes virtually no time at all to complete.
