Your collection is likely as unique as you are.  Perhaps you're a fan of snow globes:  delicate, fragile scenes captured in a ball filled with water and "snow" (which is often glitter).  Maybe your collection leans more toward boxes:  beautiful examples of craftsmanship constructed out of a wide variety of materials, from china to glass to stone.  Or perhaps you're more of a toy collector:  vintage toys, still carefully preserved in packaging that is as pristine as when the items were first acquired from the store.  Whatever you collect, you likely display your collection with pride, placing it on a shelf or in a cabinet so that it will be protected from accidental damage as you go about your day.  If you have small children in the home, you're probably doubly careful to ensure that your collection is protected appropriately.

When you have to move, it can be incredibly difficult to feel that you have adequately packaged your collection.  Shipping fragile or valuable items (or, in many cases, items that are both fragile and valuable) can feel a bit like taking a leap off of a cliff--especially when each item in your collection has sentimental value to you.  Perhaps it's the place where you acquired it, or the person who gave it to you, that really matter; but each item in your collection is a memory, and you want those memories to arrive safely at their destination.

That means that when the time comes to pack up your collection, you want to do it with care.  First, choose a shipping company that has experience working with valuable  items.  They will help ensure that your items receive the maximum possible care, and they know how to do it right.  Next, make sure that you're prepared with the right materials.  Use plenty of bubble wrap!  Make sure that you have enough boxes for your entire collection.  Also, have plenty of bubble wrap  packing peanuts on hand.  Add in some sturdy tape, and you're ready to get started!

Once you have all of your shipping materials, get ready to start packing.  Each item in your collection should be individually wrapped in bubble wrap, then placed in its box.  Once you've put as many items in the box as you can fit without cramming, add packing peanuts to provide additional protection.  Before sealing, shake the box gently from side to side.  If anything moves, you'll need to add more padding before sealing the box.  Once the box has been sealed, shake it again.  Any movement?  Open it back up and add a few more packing peanuts or some more bubble wrap.  Your goal is to prevent your collection from moving any more than necessary.

If your items are particularly delicate or you are concerned that they might need an extra layer of protection, place your first box in a larger box, add packing peanuts and to fill up the box, and seal.  This should ensure complete protection for all of your delicate items during the moving process.
