Take the Sam Houston Boat Tour and you can see the Port of Houston international cargo vessels and the operations at the Turning Base Terminal.
The free boat tour is located at 7300 Clinton Drive and takes you on a tour for ninety minutes. One hundred passengers can go on each tour. There is air conditioned seated area as well as standing areas on the boat's deck.
Are you a bird watcher? Look for Sea Gulls, Brown pelicans and Cormorants.
Are you wondering about the cargo? Look for cars, trailers trucks and military vehicles being loaded and unloaded at the Port of Houston.
Look for cargo ships that have cranes built on their decks. The cranes help with the loading and unloading of the cargo onto the wharfs.
Look for oil tankers and container ships.
In operation since 1958, the public vessel is a great way to see the workings of commercial shipping. As a free tour open to the public, the reservations are on a first come, first serve basis, with reservations required 24 hours in advance. The tour times are 10:00 am and 2:30 pm.
