Packing, moving  and unpacking seniors. When packing and moving senior adults, be sure to keep out all medications, food and personal items that a senior will need on the day of the move. Toiletries,  towels and face cloths should also be left out for the senior to use. We suggest a small suitcase or a separate backpack that the movers do not take with them.

Seniors may require a different moving schedule say than  that a younger family. You may need to pack a senior  over a number of days, so as to not overwhelm them. Packing may need to be done when the senior is out of their residence completely.

It is sometimes better to have the senior adult move into an apartment that is completely unpacked and set up for the senior. This includes hanging shower curtains and artwork. Cupboards can be loaded with dishes and cups. Keep out their favorite coffee cup so that they can locate it easily the first morning that they are in their new home.

The time of the move will also vary by the seniors schedule. For some individuals, a 10:00 am move will work perfectly well. For other seniors 2 pm may be the earliest that you can begin a move. For an elderly person staying the first time in a new home, it may be wise to have  friend or relative sleep over on a couch the first night the senior is in their new residence.
