International Shipping to Lithuania Made Easy

Here are some interesting facts about Lithuania. Items that are restricted or prohibited to enter Lithuania by mail are listed later in the blog. When shipping internationally you always want to look at items that the receiving country will not accept.


Fact 1

The climate in Lithuania is transition, between maritime and continental, wet, moderate winters and summers.

Fact 2
Lithuania is divided into 10 countries, 60 municipalities and 500 elderates. The highest point in Lithuania is Juozapines Hill (294m) near Vilnius. The Nemunas is the largest and longest river.

Fact 3
The historically predominant religion is Roman Catholicism. 83.6% of the Lithuanian populations are ethnic.

Fact 4
Lithuania is the only country in the world having national perfume. The ‘Scent of Lithuania’ holds the entire history of the nation.

Fact 5
The official currency is Lithuanian litas.

Fact 6
The official name is ‘The Republic of Lithuania’. The official language is Lithuania though a majority of the people speaks Russian and English.

Fact 7
The capital of Lithuania is Vilnius which is also the largest city. Lithuania joined the European Union on May 1, 2004.

Fact 8
Lithuania exports chemicals, machinery and equipment, mineral products, textiles, plastics and foodstuffs. They import mineral products, machinery and equipment, chemicals, textiles and clothing, metals and transport equipment.

Fact 9
Major industries include biotechnology, wood, processing and tourism. The principal trading partners are Poland, Russia, Germany and Latvia.

Fact 10
Lithuania was the first Soviet republic to declare independence from the USSR on March 11, 1990. The colors of the Lithuanian flag represent the sun (yellow) the land (green) and the blood of the people (red.)

There are some prohibited and some restrictions for the items that can be sent to  Lithuania. We have listed some of these items below.

Some of the prohibited items:

Items used in hunting such as guns, fighting weapons, gas pistols and gas bombs.

 

Items that may pose a danger to postal employees.

Jewelry is prohibited to be sent by mail, as are coins and bank notes.

 

Watch bands are prohibited.

 

Some of the restricted items are:

Categories B, C and D firearms.

Items of cultural value, works of art, and antiques must  be sent only with a permit from the Ministry of Culture’s Department of the Protection of Objects of Cultural Value.
