How to Ship to Cyprus: International Shipping through Customs

If you're consideringinternational shipping items into Cyprus, the first thing you should do is check out the country's list of shipping restrictions.  Like many countries, Cyprus has a detailed list of items that are prohibited or restricted, so make sure you take a look at those items before putting your shipment together.  According to the USPS website, those items include:

  • Any material which includes instructions regarding prohibited weapons.  This includes books, magazines, pamphlets, and other materials.  Material pertaining to the construction, operation, maintenance, or care of any prohibited weapon is forbidden.  The only exceptions to this policy are materials imported by the Cyprus Police Force or another department of government.  
  • Daggers
  • Any explosive or flammable substance
  • Leeches
  • Silkworms
  • Postcards that have designs that haven't been approved by the Cyprus Post Office
  • Radioactive materials
  • Rifles
  • Repeating firearms
  • Seditious publications

There are also a number of restrictions involving items that are shipped into Cyprus.  These include:

  • Articles that would be used for manufacturing cigarettes must be approved by the Cyprus customs authorities.
  • Bees, honey, or substances containing uncooked honey require the approval of the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Rags and used clothing must be approved by the Cyprus Ministry of Health.
  • Coins, bank notes, platinum, gold, silver, precious stones, and other monetary equivalents must have a license from the Cyprus Central Bank.
  • Commercial shipments should be accompanied by their invoices, preferably in an unsealed envelope attached to the outside of the shipment.
