How do I pack and ship my deer head? This isn't a common question although hunting is a common sport. When it's time to move of course you'll want to take your taxidermy with you. Here are a few tips that will help you out.

If you need to ship a deer head,First things first, you may want to gently clean your precious trophy. This will also give you time to make sure there are no broken parts and to look for pieces that may need some extra careful attention when packing. You can get a damp rag and very carefully wipe off the antlers, nose, and eyes. To get all of the dust off of the fur and to get it looking nice and fluffy again, you can gently vacuum it with the appropriate tool extension on your vacuum. Remember to go with the grain of the fur and not against it.

Once all of that is done, you'll want to get a crate a little larger than your trophy. A wooden crate would be good for this. This way you'll be able to block and brace the deer head. Remember to leave a few inches of extra space around all sides. Mounting the trophy to the bottom can help prevent any unwanted movement during the shipping journey. Now with the extra space in the crate you can add the padding to keep it nice and safe from any nicks or bumps. Packing it nice and tight will ensure better safety, but you don't want to overload your crate with stuffing. These helpful steps will assist you in making sure your trophy is sent off safely.
