Hello, Houston mover! Do you want a safe and smooth moving experience? Here are a few tips for moving day to make sure you aren't disappointed.
- Check the moving company's delivery windows!
Make sure you're going to get your items when you need them. If the company is moving one piece of furniture move out of town or just moving a few pieces of furniture to another state for you they may consolidates your possessions with other moving jobs. You may have a longer timeframe but a less expensive price tag.
- Check the logistics:
- How many movers will they bring?
- How long will the job take?
- Do they have any necessary specialty experience? Moving into high rises or through elevators/stairs can make the move more complicated.
- Have they asked you if you need a Certificate of Insurance in order for the move to proceed.
- 3. Personal precautions:
- Pack a personal suitcase: Take a personal bag with a few article of clothing and hygiene necessities. Even if perfectly planned, a move can still be affected by outside, unavoidable delays.
- Plan out where everything goes in advance: This saves you time and will cut down on the hours the movers spend working. (This also saves you some cash!) Make a scaled sketch of your new living space and where you want the furniture placed.
- Does the company have any questions for you? Work out any potential concerns of either party to ensure a smooth and easy moving day.
Let the moving company know ahead of time if you have any delicate or antique wood pieces and especially for glass tables or other fragile decorations. The movers will need to take special care of these items. They may need to build custom boxes or custom crates to protect these items during you move.
