If you're going to be moving them a single time, then you'll only need them packed up once, and you won't need more durable shipping supplies. On the other hand, if you're looking into transporting the same items multiple times, you might want to consider having reusable crates built that can be used again and again. Instead of needing to have custom crates built each time, you can have your crates already on hand. When the time comes to pack everything up, just wrap it back up and put it in the crate it last shipped in.
On the other hand, you might only be moving something once--and you need to prepare for that, too. Whether you're shipping office equipment, oil field equipment, tools for car repair, or any other type of equipment, you want to know that your items are protected and in great hands. They can be shipped in boxes after being packed in appropriate materials to cushion them, or they can be packaged in crates--whatever is appropriate for your shipment.
Making a larger shipment? In that case, you'll want to look into pallet shipping, boxing or crating your items individually before stacking them on a larger pallet. Pallets are often moved by forklift, so packing them appropriately is important. You'll want to make sure that nothing hangs over the edge of the pallet and that it is wrapped from the bottom to the top once it's on the pallet for maximum security.
