Texas is known for oil wells, but also for oil paintings. Texas has a rich artistic history and a culture that encourages contemporary artists. When shipping artwork, it's important to consider the sort of crate that will protect the art in transit. Crate building properly determines whether your artwork will be shipped across country safely, or whether you'll find a torn canvas with paint smears when it arrives. Custom built crates protect artwork during shipping.
For shipping something as valuable and delicate as artwork, it is best to use international caliber crates rather than crates intended for domestic shipping, even if the artwork is only going from Dallas to Detroit or from Galveston to Gettysburg. Heat-treated wood is used when building crates intended for international shipping, and that is what Pack n Send recommends when shipping works of art. Crates can easily be custom-built to fit the art, for greater protection.
Kay Wyne is a Texas painter whose work is displayed at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. Mrs. Wyne works in oil on canvas pottery and cotton panels, in a Contemporary Impressionist style. Mrs. Wyne is best known for her landscapes and still lifes, such as "Wildflower Vista," "Windswept," and "Blue Vase." She also does pictures of animals, such as her "Big Guy" and "Hen Session." Originally from the Midwest, Mrs. Wyne attended Western Illinois University. She now resides in Dallas and considers herself a true Texan. She often paints with a wide brush, but she sometimes uses a palette knife to create a thicker texture in her works.
