Even with the prices of petroleum products decreasing the price of plastics are increasing. In the last month and a half the prices or poly bags, stretch and bubble wrap have increased . Things that are associated with the petroleum industry have experience a five to eight percent increase.
In poly film the increase is 5—6%, bubble wrap is the same. Stretch wrap is around 6-8% increase. We talk about this by have been unable to determine why the prices are increases. We usually look at petroleum based products, but this does not seem to be the area of blame this time around. For the most part we are looking at a worldwide global market, and labor costs are skyrocketing in china during the last 2-3 years. This seems to be the reason for the increase although we are not so sure that we can attribute increase in plastic prices to labor in China alone.”
