Shipping Through Houston-Port of Houston Update

Posted on Mon, Oct 10, 2011

The Houston Chronicle article in this mornings paper updates information about the port expansion at the Port of Houston.

Since the Panama Canal is increasing the size of the ships that pass though it, the Port of Houston is remodeling so that it too can accommodate the larger ships. The Panama Canal anticipates finishing the improvements in 2014.

The total expansion of the Port of Houston will take about 10 years to complete, but the first phase  of completion  should coincide with the completion of the Panama Canal.

The Port of Houston is looking at storing containers five high. They will need to reinforce storage areas with stronger concrete.

Pack n send tries to keep our customers updated on improvements in the shipping industry as well as events at the Port of Houston.
