In general, if you're going to be shipping multiple pieces of furniture--an entire room worth, a set, or several pieces of an inheritance, for example; or if you're moving and going to be taking all of your furniture with you--it is recommended to ship everything at one time via freight in order to ensure the least expensive and most efficient delivery. After all, you don't want pieces of furniture trickling in one at a time while you try to figure out what to do with them or wait for the rest to arrive so that the whole set can be used. A dining room table doesn't do you a lot of good without the chairs to go with it, and an ottoman doesn't have a whole lot of uses unless it's accompanied by its chair. These pieces can be shipped as a unit, either delivered on the pallet via curbside delivery or sent to a receiving warehouse, taken off of the pallet, and delivered inside to the location of your choice.
On the other hand, sometimes, you just don't need to ship an entire roomful of furniture at a time. Maybe you've picked up a dresser to replace one that has seen more than its fair share of use, or discovered the perfect complement to your existing living room decor. Maybe you're replacing a recliner that's certainly seen better days (what is it about recliners that they tend to see so much more use than any other piece of furniture, especially during those early days with your children?) and just need that single piece to complete your room, rather than redecorating the entire thing. Maybe it's a new piece of furniture for your kids' rooms.
